Nepal – Making children smile
A donation to a day school and boarding school in Nepal is helping some of the world's poorest children.

Just €5 a month pays for a child to attend school for a month and receive a hot meal every day, prepared at school. Photo: Children in front of the school |

Teachers often have inadequate training and have not learned how to actively include children in lessons. There are not enough blackboards, books or pencils to go round. Donations enable children in this primary school to continue their education. Photo: Children in the classroom |

Almost half of the population of Nepal lives on less than one dollar a day. There are almost two million children who work in order to support their families. This leaves them little opportunity to attend school. 14% of school pupils drop out before the end of their first year and only half complete all five years of their primary education.
